We exclusively and specifically stock Villa Maria for lots of reasons. First, they are a New Zealand founded and run company, second they are award winning and third, they make the best wine we have ever had! The list goes on but those are three reasons that are enough for us to include them in our hampers.
Villa Maria was founded in 1961, right in our backyard suburb of Māngere in Auckland and in 1962 were already making wine under the name Villa Maria. In 2022 they celebrated 60 years as a company and producer of wine. Over the past 60 years, Villa Maria have accumulated many awards (a long list of winery of the year awards), opened more vineyard wineries around the country and launched vineyard tours and a park for eventful day outs.

Villa Maria's Sauvignon Blanc grapes are sourced from the Marlborough region down south. Fruit set in the cool spring weather was lower than usual, resulting in the development of small flavourful berries. From January onwards, Marlborough experienced a summer of the century, with a spell of long hot dry weather with moderately cool nights providing the perfect environment to ensure physiological and flavour ripeness whilst retaining freshness.
